If you are Indonesian kids growing up in the '90s I'm sure you know Chiki Balls. Chiki is one of the most popular snack in Indonesia at that time. Originally these snack comes in three flavours which is chicken, cheese and chocolate flavour.

I felt so excited when I found this Chiki Seaweed on the supermarket shelf. The first generation of Chiki come in smaller packaging (12 g) but the newest one come in 40 g packaging. The texture almost similar with the old Chiki - same texture with cheese balls or cheese puff -. But these seaweed snack's texture a little bit more dense with a thin sticky coating and seaweed flakes.

So far Chiki Seaweed taste good but if but if I have to choose then I will definitely choose the chicken or cheese flavour.

Sekitar akhir tahun 2015 lalu Indomie baru saja mengeluarkan mie goreng dengan rasa baru. Kali ini Indomie tidak tanya mengeluarkan satu rasa, tetapi dua rasa baru sekaligus yaitu Indomie Goreng rasa Soto & Indomie Goreng rasa Ayam Bawang.

Yang membuat kedua mie goreng baru ini unik karena kedua rasa baru ini terinspirasi dari Indomie kuah rasa soto dan Indomie kuah rasa ayam bawang.

Mie goreng rasa ayam bawang ini dari rasa dan penampilannya hampir mirip dengan Indomie goreng klasik. Walaupun rasanya tidak semanis Indomie goreng klasik karena tidak memakai kecap manis. Selain kriuk ada juga tambahan krupuk udang mini sebagai gambahan topping.

Dari kedua mie goreng "kuah" ini yang jadi favorit saya adalah yang rasa soto. Minyak bumbu mie goreng soto ini berwarna kehijauan dan dari bumbu keringnya ada sedikit aroma jeruk nipis yang sangat menggugah selera. Walaupu tidak terasa asam, tapi aroma jeruk nipisnya membuat mie goreng ini semakin enak dan segar.

Van Landa is a premium potato chips brand from a medium-sized company in Yogyakarta. Although the name sounds like a Dutch rather than Indonesian but this kettle cooked chips is a local product from Indonesia.

The packaging looks very attractive, it's tough and looks like it made from recycle material.

Merlin Magic Herbs Chicken is sounds like an odd name for potato chips, never in my life I heard about merlin magic herbs until I saw this Van Landa potato chips - I can't even find enough information about this peculiar magic herbs.

As I tore the open the bag, I could smells the unfamiliar herby scent. The texture of these chips are typically a little thicker and crunchier than traditionally fried potato chips. The chips size unevenly and smaller than the regular chips.

Tastes a little funny at the first bite maybe because the spices taste unfamiliar for me, but the taste get better as I chew. It does taste like thyme but with almost balmy flavour, it well seasoned and you can still get the real potato taste.

I feel excited every time I see a local artisanal product displayed on supermarket shelves, especially if the company have a good values... environmental friendly, caring about labour and farmer welfare. But is it true Van Landa is a natural product and contain no MSG and artificial flavours? It really still a big question for me as in their composition it contains chicken...

Tong Garden is a snack company based in Singapore with two manufacturing plants in Malaysia and Thailand.

Tong Garden have a vast variety of nuts and beans, but one that really caught my attention is Satay Broad Beans. These broad beans coated with satay seasoning, it have light brown colour and make the beans even crisper.

The taste was very good, with a nice balance of sweet and salty combination. But the smells of these broad beans more like curry rather than satay. Overall it's a good and satisfying snacks .

Kusuka Cassava Snacks is a new snack from CV. Arira Pangindo. Their first snack is kusuka cassava chips and as I remember it is a pioneer in a premium cassava chips.

While their predecessor is made from thinly sliced of cassava, this Kusuka cassava snack I believe made from cassava flour. Because their texture different with the original cassava chips, it similar with Indonesian traditional snack called opak, but thinner and crispier.

They have two flavour; original and barbercue. I tried the original version first and it has a strong chicken bouillon aroma. The taste is just like chips sprinkled with chicken bouillon and salt, it very salty and have unpleasant aftertaste. The barbecue is taste better than the original, nothing special but it taste ok and eatable.

So far I like the texture of this snack but they really need to improve their flavour.

I've seen this O'garlos Shrimp Crackers in Giant Hypermarket's shelves few months back, but just got a chance to try it. This shrimp crackers is produced by PT United Harvest Indonesia. Yup, this snack is local snack and not imported.

In Indonesia shrimp crackers is an everyday food. we eat it as a snack, add it as condiment for bubur ayam (chicken congee), accompanied for fried noodles and also eat it with rice.

O'garlos shrimp crackers is a modern version of "Indonesian" shrimp crackers. Unlike the traditional shrimp crackers that you have to fried it first, O' garlos is ready to eat and have 6 different flavours.

My favourite thing about this snack is their cute packaging - unique material and pastel colour of packaging is catch my attention-. The shrimp crackers come in square shape with a hole in the middle and it has nice crunch texture.

The sweet and spicy seasoning is exactly like others snack I have tried before. It is spicy but still acceptable for my Indonesian tongue.

Granola is a blend of baked rolled oats, honey or other sweetener like brown sugar, nuts and sometimes consisting dried fruit mix. These days granola become more popular in Indonesia because it healthier than sugary cereal breakfast, also tastier and easier to prepare than oatmeal.

Granola also become a symbolise of healthy, organic eating and it a staple for a health conscious people. To follow the trend and the public demands, market shelves is flooded with many various of granola whether it is imported or local products.

One of local granola that caught my attention is Gourmet Blend Granola Creations from the Island of Gods. I've been eyeing this granola since some time ago, but finally buy it when the launch their mini size pack. Well the main reason is because I'm not eating granola daily and I also prefer to try sevela flavours at once, sadly the supermarket near my place only cinnamon & raisin flavour.

This granola is locally made in Bali, each ingredients carefully selected and grown by small farmers in North Bali. This cinnamon & raisins granola contain rolled oats, cashews, grated coconut, coconut sugar, coconut oil and cinnamon. Flavour wise it's not too sweet, nutty, coconut(y) and it has subtle taste of cinnamon.

The mini size perfect for me because it enough for one time eating, unfortunately the mini size doesn't have nutrition facts.
